- A long term stress like a divorce, financial distress, work deadlines, abuse etc.
- Our adrenaline response is on for too long and wears out the body’s energy.
- This is why many people get sick after the stressful period when the immune system drops in order to recover.
The other one is sneaky and usually the most common form of stress:
- Short, consistent stress periods throughout the day, every day.
- For example; you wake up late, have a breakfast on the go so your digestion is also stressed, miss the bus or get stuck in traffic, get to work late and get yelled at from your boss, your behind in work so you have to stay later, get home and have to cook for your kids or for yourself, you’re in a bad mood and how can you not be, you yell and nag at everyone because you feel overwhelmed etc. you get the point.
- This is how many of us live our life daily
- It is one of the biggest reasons why the population is gaining weight and is susceptible to all kinds of diseases.
- Our bodies are literally giving up on us and those stress hormones pack the weight around the belly as a means to protect the organs because the body needs a lot of calories to activate our immune system.
- This is why stress kills and the reason why the belly is the hardest place to lose weight.
